New Reports: Google Search Getting Dates Wrong Again
I am seeing some new reports, some publicly, and some not, of Google Search getting the dates they display in the Google Search results wrong. This is a common issue that Google has struggled with over the years but recently seemed to have been getting better at.
A number of folks at VentureBeat complained about this, here are those complaints:

We've checked on our end, including with Wordpress VIP, and it doesn't look like we can fix it, or that the problem is on our side. Indeed, we see other sites like Fortune having the same problem. @FortuneMagazine pic.twitter.com/9U7OcK7MGe

Danny Sullivan from Google did respond:
We can't give any specialized support, but I'll pass it on in case we spot an issue that can be resolved to help things generally. Do double check how dates are being sent, if you haven't already, including if you have other articles on the same page with full dates.

The dates are set properly in json-ld datePublished and dateModified. The date which is being pulled in is from a video embed on the page.
